Kirstina's Perspective

  • I am married and have a beautiful blended family. I am a mother, stepmother, and adoptive mother to 5 lovely children ranging from 9-18 years old.

  • My personal journey includes navigating through divorce, post-decree matters, high-conflict relationships, and foster care/adoption of children. I not only "survived" these challenges, but was able to create functional and productive relationships through the processes. Experiencing positive outcomes for myself and my children has provided me with hope for what is possible even within some of the most stressful and complex circumstances.

  • I have witnessed both the detrimental impacts of conflict during separation as well as the positive power of repair and restoration on children, adults, and families. These experiences have made me believe strongly in the importance of positive approaches to achieving healthy outcomes for all involved.

  • My experiences have led me to deeply value the unique circumstances of each person and family I meet. I believe everyone is an expert in their own story. Each person's contribution to creating positive solutions and outcomes is essential in the dispute resolution process.

Mediation Practice & Credentials

  • I am a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the MN General Rules of Practice

  • In addition to doing Affordable Mediations with Restoring Home, I also offer Child Inclusive and Child Focused Mediations and co-parent coaching services through KQ Consulting LLC.

  • I've completed specialized training through entities such as: Children Beyond Dispute; High Conflict Institute/New Ways for Families; The Mediation Center; and various sponsored trainings through the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC).

  • I have been a Licensed Social Worker for nearly 20 years and have worked as a Mental Health Professional (LICSW) for the past 10 years. My special interest areas and the majority of my professional experiences include working with people involved in child protection, foster care, adoption, mental health, family court, high conflict relationships, complex family systems, and trauma related situations.
